Soft tissue surgery and Orthopaedic
Jonathan Deacon BVM&S, CertSAS, MRCVS
After qualifying at Edinburgh's Royal (Dick) School of Veterinary Studies in 2000, Jonathan's first post was with a mixed practice in Northumberland and, during the 3 years he spent there, he developed a love of small animal surgery.
As a result of this passion, he moved on to a referral centre for small animals in West Yorkshire where he spent 5 years studying towards the RCVS Certificate in Small Animal Surgery which he attained in 2008.
In 2008 Jonathan decided to settle in Northumberland, with his wife Megan, daughter Kate their collection of pets (amongst which number 5 rescued stray cats, 2 dogs and a 25 year old Hackney horse called Topper), leading him to found Moorview Vets
Internal medicine and diagnostic imaging
Sophie Acton BVM&S CertSAM CertIVUS Cert GP Cardiology MRCVS
Sophie has lived in the North east for most of her life, and has worked in the area since qualifying from Edinburgh in 1998. She has worked in several local practices before undertaking an internal medicine position at Sheriffs Highway Veterinary Hospital in 2002.
During her time there she
developed an experience in medical procedures and a particular
interest in imaging. Sophie successfully completed her RCVS
Certificate in small animal medicine in 2004 and went on to set up
a mobile ultrasound service for local practices in 2006. She
completed the international veterinary ultrasound society
certificate in small animal ultrasound in 2009.
In addition to her mobile
ultrasound service she now takes medical referrals including
endoscopy and MRI at Moorview vets.
Cardiology
Antonio Moneva- Jordan DVM, CertVC, MRCVS
Antonio graduated from the
University of Zaragoza (Spain) in 1990 after spending 2 years at
Glasgow veterinary School with a scholarship from the European
Erasmus programme.
After 5 years at Ayres Veterinary Hospital he gained the RCVS Certificate in Veterinary Cardiology with the best marks prize in 1996, He subsequently enjoyed a Residency in Cardiopulmonary Medicine and a period as Temporary Lecturer in Cardiology an the University of Edinburgh.
Antonio is a recognised
member of the Heart Testing Panel for auscultation of the
Veterinary Cardiovascular Society. He is also a regular CPD speaker
for Improve International.
He currently works as a
cardiology consultant in the North East and West of Yorkshire and
has many years of experience in referral cardiology at both
university and private practice.
Antonio's main interests are all aspects of cardiopulmonary medicine, in particular congenital heart disease.
Internal medicine and dermatology
Sean Henney BVM&S, CertSAD, MRCVS
Sean graduated from Edinburgh
Royal (Dick)School Of Veterinary Studies in 1983. He went into a
mixed, mainly companion animal, practice in the south west and
passed the Certificate in Small Animal Dermatology in
1988.
Since then, he has run a dermatology referral service, initially for his own practice in Wiltshire.
He was Principal and internist at Stone Lion Veterinary Centre, a multi-disciplinary referral centre in the Southwest of London for 4 years and then went back to practice ownership. After trying to retire to Scotland he then went to a large practice in West Yorkshire to see dermatology referrals, both in-house and from client practices. Sean stayed there for 3 years, until the lure of a job in Kuwait took him away.
Since returning he has
locumed at many practices and has been seeing dermatology cases at
Moorview since May 2009. He is now working for us 3 days a week
heading our dermatology referral work and first opinion
cases.
Sean has recently
enrolled in his medicine certificate.
His main clinical interests are hypersensitivity, including allergy and auto-immunity, and endocrine diseases. He has also recently set up a dermatology referral clinic in Jersey.
