Facilities at Moorview Vets

The clinic allows us to cater for any emergency day or night. During normal hours it also provides routine consultations, day patient surgery and offers free nurse clinic advice.

Reception and waiting area

Image description

On arrival one of our friendly receptionists will take your name and log that you have arrived. Our record system is fully computerised and shared by both surgeries.

Anaesthetics

Image description

We use a comprehensive range of modern, safe anaesthetic agents (identical to those used in human hospitals), allowing us to anaesthetise most species of animal from a small hamster to a large dog.

All our surgical patients receive peri-operative analgesics (pain killers) and a trained veterinary nurse monitors the anaesthetic throughout the procedure.

Heart and respiratory monitors (pulse oximetry, capnograph and blood pressure monitors) are used for high-risk cases undergoing general anaesthesia.

Operating theatres

We have 2 large, fully equipped, sterile operating suites. One of which is dedicated to advanced soft tissue and orthopaedic/spinal surgery.

We have a wide variety of modern surgical instruments and equipment that allows us to perform many advanced procedures.

Laboratories

Our main surgery is equipped with laboratory facilities.

At the clinic we have the facilities to carry out both biochemistry and blood gas analysis to include many pre anaesthetic blood tests. We also perform in-house microscopy and urinalysis.

Dentistry

We have one dental station with an up to date air driven dental machine allowing us to do a high level of dentistry care.

Imaging and diagnostic equipment

The medical equipment we use is all modern, safe and is similar to that used in a human hospital. We have one imaging suite with a digital x-ray machine allowing assessment of imagines within seconds.

In addition we have a colour flow Doppler digital ultrasound scanner. Other instruments such as rigid and flexible endoscopes which are suitable for rhinoscopy and endoscopy. ECG and blood pressure monitors allow us to diagnose a wide range of serious conditions, again without the need for surgery.

A mobile MRI scanner visits us once a month enabling us to use this valuable imaging technique.

Kennels, wards and isolation facilities

Image description

We have a large separate dog ward with facilities to accommodate even the largest of dog breeds.

Our dedicated cat ward is situated in a separate room away from the nosie of the dogs and the busier areas of the practice. This area allows the cats to feel as much at ease as possible.

We have a dedicated isolation ward where we care for cats and dogs with infectious diseases.

Our wards have a designated hospital nurse that is responsible for making sure every animals stay is as comfortable as possible.
